Following the devastating wildfires that struck Maui in August of 2023, 2,000 homes were lost. With 4,000 people currently living in shelters, housing solutions are in demand. The Lowe's Hometowns grant will provide funding to establish the infrastructure (grading, paving, solar power) for a community of tiny homes to be used as temporary housing, as well as the installation of the first two tiny homes on the property and be a reprieve for the horrible and inadequate conditions this community is facing.

Insight Housing has operated for over 20 years as a supportive housing community in South Berkeley. Through Lowe's Hometowns, two residences will be repaired, including replacing the roofs and a building a new laundry room. The outdoor courtyard will also be upgraded with seating, landscaping and new gates to help create an inviting, safe and dignified environment to the individuals they serve.

Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade

Rebuilding Together Miami provides community repairs for low-income families, community spaces and small businesses. The Lowe's Hometowns project will complete essential work for a neighborhood child care center that provides affordable care for low-income families. Repairs include renovating drinking fountains, kitchen cabinets, painting, repaired floors, electrical and repairing bathrooms.

Hope House Of Manitowoc County

Hope House of Manitowoc County is a homeless shelter serving women, families, couples and single females that are experiencing homelessness. The Lowe's Hometowns project will upgrade the shelter facility with new paint, floors and cabinets, as well as update fencing and repair and restain the deck.

Restoration Pointe Nashville operates in a historic church that serves as a homeless shelter and a hub for community care including free clothing, food and more. Through Lowe's Hometowns, renovations to this facility will allow for a women’s shelter in the area, helping thousands of Nashville's most vulnerable individuals and truly help restore a sense of pride and community to a place that does so much for the city of Nashville.

Hope Extreme

Hope Extreme provides essential services such as youth programs, support for unsheltered individuals and assistance with food and hygiene needs. The Lowe's Hometowns project will help construct a park and community garden in a current vacant lot. The garden and park will include a new fence, vegetable gardens, fruit trees and a basketball halfcourt.

Historic Port Orchard Theater Foundation

The historic Polaris Theater in Port Orchard has hosted thousands of community members since opening in 1924. Through Lowe's Hometowns, upgrades led by the Historic Port Orchard Theater Foundation will renovate the theater’s ticket booth and façade will give the theater a fresh look and revitalize a once thriving beacon of the community. This updated theater will support not only cinema but live music and shows, as well as community events and gatherings, business meetings, and family and community reunions.

The Eagle's Nest was Rowan County's first transitional housing program, funded by a caring community that sought to provide homeless individuals and families a safe and supportive environment. Through Lowe's Hometowns, the facilities reserved for veterans will be updated with new flooring, paint, siding and weatherproofing will create a haven for homeless individuals on their journey to stability.

Hispanic Human Resources Council (HHRC)

Hispanic Human Resource Council (HHRC) is a unique nonprofit social service organization with a goal to educate young children and support their families by improving access to services. Through the Lowe's Hometowns project, seven buildings on the campus will be upgraded, including cement work, painting, foundation and walkway repairs.

Scotland Volunteer Fire Department

The Scotland Volunteer Fire Department has a diverse and dedicated volunteer base that includes both men and women, as well as members from the LGBTQ+ community. The Lowe's Hometowns grant will provide brand-new bunkrooms that allow for the volunteers to have privacy while serving their shifts. An office relocation and full kitchen renovation will create a comforting space to foster connection among volunteers.
