Mentorship program inspires operations coach to harness his growth potential and lead others at regional distribution center

Marcus Tuck never backs away from a challenge. So when Tuck, at the time an IT employee for a hospital, was presented with an opportunity to venture into the supply chain business as a Lowe’s distribution center operations coach, he seized the opportunity.

The opportunity surfaced through his participation in the U.S. Business Leadership Network (USBLN) Career Link Mentoring Program, a six-month program that provides mentoring opportunities to college students and recent graduates with disabilities. Through the mentorship, Tuck was introduced to a Lowe’s supply chain director and inspired to grow both his leadership and operations management capabilities.

Today, customers expect the products they purchase to be delivered in a day or two, and Lowe’s regional distribution center in Statesville, North Carolina, plays a critical role in that process. Tuck leads a team of 50 people helping to ensure stores – and customers – receive their products in a timely manner. And with each day, he continues to challenge himself – while inspiring his team members to do the same.
