The Salvation Army’s Women and Children’s Shelter needs some tender loving care. Through the Lowe’s Hometowns grant, the shelter will  receive much-needed attention including new flooring throughout, repairs to the interior walls, including priming and preparing the walls for a fresh coat of paint as well as additional enhancements. These renovations will significantly enhance the shelter's ambiance to provide a homelike feel.

For nearly 100 years, Easterseals has been an indispensable resource for children, adults, families and veterans living and thriving with disabilities in Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia. The Lowe's Hometowns project will refurbish a child development center with a renovated kitchen, including freshly painted walls, doors and baseboards throughout. New countertops and backsplash, stairs, posts, handrails and a refinished wall in the main area will make this an enriching space, expanding opportunities for people across the lifespan of their community.

Three Oaks Center is a shelter that provides safety and protection, especially during the colder months, for homeless individuals. Through Lowe's Hometowns, two of the facility's bathrooms will be remodeled to be more accessible, updates will be made to the washer and dryer facility, as well as a remodel of a shared office suite. These improved spaces will further the organization's mission of serving individuals with respect and dignity.

For pet owners who are experiencing financial difficulties, the Human Society of Charles County is a vital resource. A new pet holding space with new flooring, new washers and dryers, fresh paint and an education and exercise training barn will streamline adoptions and give more room to these animals who have been separated from their families. It will make the shelter healthier for the animals, staff, and volunteers.
