The Duryea VFW has served the Duryea, Greater Pittston and lower Lackawanna County areas for the last 100 years. The organization collaborates across the community to provide community gathering space, including the Northeast PA Food Dignity Project farmers’ market. The Lowes’ Hometowns project will help construct a pavilion to expand its usable space to benefit veterans, their families and the greater community.

The Children of Mine Youth Center serves as a safe place for hundreds of children in Washington, D.C. Critical repairs will be completed through the Lowe's Hometowns project, including a new roof, windows, ceiling, lighting and HVAC.

Chester Education Foundation

Chester Education Foundation’s Community Resource Hub will open to residents of Delaware County and serve as a one-stop for community members to access subsidized and emergency housing, food banks, legal, educational, employment, counseling and more. The Lowe's Hometowns project will help complete the new hub space including drywall, paint, lighting, carpet, cabinets and appliances.

Champion House of Care provides personalized support for individuals with intellectual and development disabilities. Champion House of Care offers programs to help their clients develop the skills they need to be successful in the community, both while in school through an after school program, camp during summer and winter breaks and post-high school enrichment programs. The Lowe’s Hometowns grant will updated the organization’s playground equipment to be more inclusive and enjoyable for children of all abilities.

Established in 1968 by Coretta Scott King, The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, also known as The King Center, has been a global destination, resource center and community institution for over 25 years. Through Lowe's Hometowns the Freedom Walkway, on the campus of The King Center, will be refreshed, repaired and cleaned to offer visitors an educational, inspiring and empowering experience with the awarding of a Lowe's Hometowns grant.

For 25 years, Cafe of Life, Inc. has served as the hub of the Bonita Springs community by providing critical services to those in need, including serving over 20,000 meals annually. The Lowe's Hometowns project will add a pavilion and landscaping to a nearby public park to host even more families for outdoor enrichment, hot meals and more.

Over the last 5 years, BUCM has served over 215,000 meals in their soup kitchen, kept over 1,000 people in their homes by assisting them with power, water and rent and finally have provided emergency food through their food pantry to over 40,000 people. The Lowe's Hometowns project will help renovate the recently relocated soup kitchen building, dining room and commercial kitchen. The project includes demolition, floor repair, painting, full kitchen install with applicances and furnishings and will help the organization continue to serve individuals in crisis in their community.

Brilliant Detroit's expansion to Pontiac was born from a need for equitable, evidence-based, high-quality educational opportunities for children. Through the Lowe's Hometowns grant, a newly acquired residential home will be transformed into a community hub with a front porch, new roof, exterior doors, front steps, kitchen updates, paint, new windows, refreshed basement, updated electrical, plumbing and HVAC. This space will help even more children to achieve higher reading levels, setting them on a path to early achievement.

The Salvation Army Veterans and Family Center

The Salvation Army Veterans and Family Center is a transitional housing center that provides a therapeutic environment for veterans and their families.  The Lowe's Hometowns project will renovate the organization's therapeutic greenhouse to make it a more functional space, including removing and replacing damaged wood, windows and structures. Ventilation, plant racks and heat lighting will also be added to create a nurturing space for plants and people.

The Social Club

The Social Club provides space for individuals who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and their families to connect. Through Lowe's Hometowns, upgrades will make The Social Club more accessible with new push-button doors, wheelchair accessible security gate, remodeled restroom and raised garden beds for hands on projects and beautification. All of the updates will help members gather for the much-needed social time and community connection.
