Lowe's Water Stewardship Policy

The United Nations has defined the “Human Right to Water” as the right of everyone to have sufficient, safe, acceptable, physically accessible, and affordable water for personal and domestic uses. Lowe’s Companies Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively, “Lowe’s”) recognizes that water is an important limited resource and plays a critical role in people’s daily life. Water availability has significant impacts on its communities, customers, and supply chain.

Understanding that Lowe’s value chain covers many regions across the world, it is important for our entire value chain to be water-responsible. To manage water more responsibly, Lowe’s will focus its efforts on three main strategic areas across our enterprise:

  • Promoting the importance of preserving this important resource

  • Working to reduce its direct consumption

  • Leveraging its supply chain power to improve water efficiency of products offered

    Specifically, Lowe’s will:

  • Support its associates and customers on opportunities to reduce water consumption in their daily lives through its product assortment and education on how to use and maintain those products

  • Report our progress in our annual Corporate Responsibility report

  • Measure and assess its water footprint across its value chain

  • Foster supply-chain relationships and encourage suppliers to measure and reduce their water

    consumption in their operations

  • Actively drive the identification and implementation of water conservation initiatives within our operations

Lowe’s is committed to monitoring and updating these action plans to ensure continuous improvement over time. For updates related to Lowe’s continuous efforts on sustainability, please refer to Lowe’s Our Responsibilities website and Lowe’s annual Corporate Responsibility Report.
