Over two days across the country, Lowe’s home service PROviders, red vest associates and community partners rolled up their sleeves, picked up power tools, and built thousands of beds. The goal was simple yet powerful: to ensure that children in need no longer have to sleep on the floor.

Through its partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), Lowe’s took a leading role in the nationwide Bunks Across America initiative. At 40 Services Serves Lowe’s locations, Lowe's dispatched expert Pros, associates and volunteers built 2,729 beds with the help of 3,658 volunteers. Nationwide, Lowe’s support helped fuel efforts across 209 SHP chapters, resulting in more than 10,075 beds built by 12,955 volunteers.

For Karl Dueland, president of the Iredell County South SHP chapter, Lowe’s involvement has been transformative.

Lowe’s is phenomenal. They supported us financially, with people, and with tools. They are our number one partner. There’s no other way to put it

That support ripples through the community and inside the stores. Corey Calloway, a Lowe’s store manager in Mooresville, North Carolina, said the partnership shows customers and associates alike what the company stands for.

It’s important for our community to see that we’re actually here for them. Seeing associates and providers choose to volunteer their time is very rewarding. This is something they look forward to every year.

Lowe’s service providers also see the value firsthand. Justin Warrior, CEO of Install Partners, knows the impact.

I’m a father, so for me it’s short and sweet, you’ve got to lay the foundation for a child. What better way to do it than ensuring a child has a safe place to sleep? Seeing my daughters go off to school every day, knowing they had a great night’s sleep, that’s a good start to any child’s life. Every child deserves that.

The work is about more than numbers. It’s about giving children a foundation for rest, learning, and growth, and giving families peace of mind. As Doland explained, “There’s nothing more valuable than your time. The difference you can make by spending an hour here, building 10 beds...that’s 10 kids who now have a place to be secure. Multiply that across 40 different locations, and you’re really making it”.

For families, the impact is immediate. For volunteers, the reward is lasting. For Lowe’s and SHP, the effort serves as proof that when communities come together with a purpose, the results can change lives.
