When the Peach Truck Rolls In: Summer Traditions Meet Local Partnership at Lowe's

There's a new summer tradition popping up in Lowe's parking lots—and it comes in a big truck packed with farm-fresh peaches.

This isn't your typical roadside stand— it's nostalgia on wheels. What started with a 1964 Jeep Gladiator and a husband-and-wife team, Stephen and Jessica Rose, craving peaches that actually taste like peaches has grown into a summertime ritual spanning 25 states. And now, for the first time ever, Lowe's has proudly partnered with The Peach Truck to bring this tradition right to customers' favorite parking lots.

There was a lot of excitement. Lines wrapped around the parking lot, and customers and the community responded well to having the truck there.

Food trucks in parking lots are nothing new, and Lowe's entered the game with third-party operators running the show in 2014. After the COVID pandemic, the program all but disappeared. In 2023, Lowe's took the project in-house, and the Lowe's Food Truck Program was born. Now, with roughly 300 foodservice partners across 280 stores, the goal is to expand into every parking lot nationwide. While taco trucks and hot dog stands are standards, vendors are becoming increasingly unique, such as The Peach Truck and I Heart Cookies - a cookie truck featuring 15-foot animatronic dinosaurs.

No matter the truck, the goals remain the same - community engagement, easy access for PRO's and benefiting associates.

A Natural Pairing: Handy People and Handy Peaches

It turns out, Lowe's customers and Peach Truck fans have a lot in common. They're DIYers, canners, grillers, gardeners—people who know the satisfaction of rolling up their sleeves and making something great. Buying a 25-pound box of peaches? That's not a casual snack run—it's a plan. It's jam, cobbler, freezer bags for winter. It's a commitment to good food, good memories, and sharing something sweet with your neighbors.

"They're the kind of folks who know how to use their hands," said Peach Truck founder Stephen Rose. "And that overlaps perfectly with the Lowe's customer. These are people who'll pick up peaches, then grab lumber for a backyard project—all in one trip."

Community in a Crate

But this partnership is about more than convenience—it's about connection. Walk up to a Peach Truck stop and you'll see more than boxes getting loaded. You'll hear stories about grandma's pie recipe, folks swapping canning tips, and parents letting their kids take the first juicy bite right there on the tailgate. It's old-school summer in the best way."We give out 'share bags' with every box," Rose said. "It encourages people to pass a few peaches to a neighbor. And we've found that people really do. It's just part of the spirit."

This is The Peach Truck's first summer partnering with Lowe's—but based on the response, it won't be the last. The easy-to-find locations, big open parking lots, and customer overlap made it a natural fit.

And for Lowe's? Bringing locals to the lot is a no-brainer. Supporting small businesses with big dreams is what the company is all about.  So next time you see that fruit truck under the Lowe's sign, stop and grab a peach.
